Go Gwangju FC!!

For those of you that know me, know that I love soccer aka futbol!! So you can imagine my excitement to have a local team to support, Gwangju FC!! They may not be the best, it is the K-League after all, but nonetheless, they play at the gorgeous Gwangju World Cup Stadium and the energy is all the same, fun! Even though many seats are left empty, the crowd maintains a high level of excitement.

We experienced our first game this past weekend and paid a mere 5,000 won per ticket, which is about $4.00 USD. Sporting events are extremely cheap here. Not only are the tickets low in cost, but you can bring in your own food and drinks. That’s pretty fantastic if you ask me. Although, if you choose not to bring your own treats, they do have a snack bar. The selection of food is quite different from what you would find at an American sporting event…hot dogs, nachos, hamburgers, etc. I had a bowl of noodles and a beer while watching the game…amazing! Oh and the beer is not marked up, only costing 2,500 won. Here are some pictures from the game…

Cheers!
